Wrestling Trak Quick Start Guide

Welcome to Wrestling Trak! Use this guide to get started quickly.

Features at a Glance

  • Teams – Create and manage teams and wrestlers.
  • Matches – Record wrestler actions during live matches with a tap.
  • Reports – View and compare team or match stats.
  • Settings – Customize defaults (like jersey colors) for faster setup.

👉 Navigate through sections using the menu bar at the bottom.

Step 1: Create Your Teams

  1. Tap Teams in the menu bar.
  2. Tap the ➕ Add button.
  3. Enter details:
  4. Team Name (required, up to 100 characters).
  5. Location (optional).
  6. Team Type (Home or Opponent).
  7. Tap Save.

👉 The app displays your new team in the list. Tap a team name to edit or tap 🗑️ to delete.

Step 2: Add Wrestlers

  1. Open a team from the Teams screen.
  2. Tap the Players icon in the bottom menu bar.
  3. Tap ➕ Add and enter details:
  4. Name (required, up to 100 characters).
  5. Weight Class (e.g., 106, 113, 120, 126, 132, 138, 144, 150, 157, 165, 175, 190, 215, 285, or ALT).
  6. Photo (optional – tap the camera icon to add a wrestler photo).
  7. Tap Save.

👉 The app lists wrestlers in the roster by name and weight class. Tap ✏️ to edit or 🗑️ to delete.

Step 3: Schedule a Match

  1. Tap Games in the menu bar.
  2. Tap ➕ Add.
  3. Enter match details:
  4. Game Title (required, up to 100 characters).
  5. Date & Time (required).
  6. Location (optional).
  7. Home Team and Opponent Team.
  8. Tap Next Game to save and open the Match Stats screen.

Step 4: Set Up the Match Lineup

  1. From the Match Stats screen, tap the Swap button (↔️) in the sidebar.
  2. The Match Lineup screen shows all 14 standard weight classes (106–285).
  3. For each weight class, select the Green (home) wrestler and Red (opponent) wrestler from the dropdowns.
  4. Wrestlers are auto-assigned by weight class if their weight class matches.
  5. Tap Save to lock in the lineup, then Back to return to the Match Stats screen.

Step 5: Track Match Stats

On the Match Stats screen:

  • The bout table on the left shows all weight class matchups. Tap a bout row to select it.
  • Tap a wrestler’s name (Green or Red column) to select them as the active wrestler.
  • Tap an action button to record scoring:
  • TD (Takedown) – 2 points, records immediately.
  • ESC (Escape) – 1 point, records immediately.
  • REV (Reversal) – 2 points, records immediately.
  • NF (Near Fall) – Opens a popup to select 2, 3, or 4 points.
  • PEN (Penalty) – Opens a popup: 1pt, 2pt, Flagrant, Injury, Unsportsmanlike. Points go to the opponent.
  • STL (Stall) – Opens a popup: Warning (0pt), 1pt, or 2pt. Points go to the opponent.
  • END (End Match) – Opens a popup to select the winner and match result.
  • Use the Match Clock controls (⏹ and +/− buttons) to manage time.
  • Select the Period (P1, P2, P3, or OT) from the period picker.
  • In Period 2+, use the Choice chips to record the starting position (Neutral, Top, Bottom, or Defer).
  • Track Riding Time by tapping the home or opponent riding time button to start/stop the timer.
  • View actions in the real-time Play by Play list. Select an item and tap ↩ to undo.

Step 6: End a Bout

  1. With a wrestler selected, tap END (End Match).
  2. Select the Winner (Green or Red wrestler).
  3. Choose the result type:
  4. Decision (3 team points)
  5. Major Decision (4 team points)
  6. Tech Fall (5 team points)
  7. Pin (6 team points)
  8. Forfeit (6 team points)
  9. Injury Default (6 team points)
  10. Disqualification (6 team points)
  11. The bout is marked complete (✔) in the bout table and team points are updated.

👉 The app automatically alerts you when a 15-point differential is reached (Tech Fall).

Step 7: View Reports

  1. Tap Reports in the menu bar.
  2. Select a report:
  3. Team List – All teams.
  4. Team + Players – Team rosters with wrestlers.
  5. Team Score History – Match scores over time.
  6. Season Report – Season-long performance summary.
  7. Highest Scoring Players – Top-scoring wrestlers at a glance.
  8. Match Report – Detailed per-match PDF with dual meet summary, bout results, stat breakdowns, and play-by-play timeline.

Step 8: Customize Settings

  1. Tap Settings in the menu bar.
  2. Adjust defaults:
  3. Game Type.
  4. Home Team.
  5. Jersey Color.
  6. Date Picker Type.
  7. Switch to the Game Types tab to add or edit match formats.
  8. Switch to the Seasons tab to manage seasons.

The menu bar helps you navigate through the app. Each section is clearly labeled, making it simple to find what you need.


Teams Screen Overview

The Teams Screen is where you can view, edit, and manage your list of teams. Here’s how it works:

Main Features

Team List:

Each team is displayed on a separate line. You’ll see:

  • Team Name: The name of the team.
  • Type: Whether the team is Home or Opponent.
  • Location: The team’s city or location.
  • Players: The number of wrestlers on the roster.

Quick Actions

  • To add a team, tap the Add button in the bottom menu bar. This takes you to the Team Setup Screen.
  • To edit a team, tap the team row to open the Team Setup Screen with the team’s details pre-filled.
  • To view wrestlers, open a team and tap the Players icon in the bottom menu bar.

This screen is designed to make team management simple and efficient. It lets you quickly edit, add, or remove teams as needed.


Add/Edit Team Screen Overview

The Team Setup Screen allows you to add a new team or edit an existing one.

Fields and Prompts

Team Name:

  • Enter the name of the team.
  • Must not exceed 100 characters.
  • Required field.

Location:

  • Typically, this is the city or school where the team is based.
  • Optional field.

Team Type:

  • Choose whether the team is a Home or Opponent team.
  • Optional field.

Actions

Save Button: Tap Save to confirm the team details and add it to your list.

  • If the Team Name is empty or exceeds 100 characters, an error message will prompt you to fix it before saving.

Delete Button: Tap Delete to remove the team. A confirmation prompt will appear to prevent accidental deletion.

Players Button: When editing an existing team, a Players icon appears in the bottom menu bar. Tap it to view and manage the team’s wrestlers.


Wrestlers List Screen Overview

The Wrestlers List Screen displays all wrestlers for the selected team. You can add new wrestlers, edit existing ones, or delete wrestlers from this screen.

Main Features

Each wrestler is displayed on a separate line with the following details:

  • Name: The wrestler’s name.
  • Weight Class: The wrestler’s weight class (e.g., 106, 132, 285, ALT).

Note: Unlike other SportsTrak apps, Wrestling Trak does not display jersey numbers or starter status for wrestlers.

Navigation Buttons:

  • Back Button: Tap Back to return to the Team Setup Screen.
  • Add Button: Tap Add to go to the Edit Wrestler Screen where you can enter details for a new wrestler.

Actions

  • To add a wrestler, tap the Add button to open the Edit Wrestler Screen.
  • To edit a wrestler, tap on the wrestler’s row to open the Edit Wrestler Screen with their details pre-filled.

Edit Wrestler Screen Overview

The Edit Wrestler Screen allows you to add a new wrestler or update details for an existing one.

Fields and Prompts

Photo:

  • Tap the camera icon to upload a photo of the wrestler.
  • The photo will appear in wrestler selection dropdowns on the Match Lineup screen.
  • Optional field.

Name:

  • Enter the wrestler’s full name.
  • Cannot exceed 100 characters.
  • Required field.

Weight Class:

  • Specify the wrestler’s weight class.
  • Standard weight classes are: 106, 113, 120, 126, 132, 138, 144, 150, 157, 165, 175, 190, 215, 285.
  • Use ALT for alternate wrestlers who can fill in at any weight.
  • Optional field (but recommended for automatic lineup assignment).

Note: Wrestling Trak does not use jersey numbers or the starter player checkbox — these fields are hidden for wrestling.

Actions

Tap Save to save the wrestler details.

  • If the Name field is missing or invalid, you’ll receive an error message prompting you to fix the issue.

Matches Screen Overview

The Matches Screen (labeled “Games” in the menu bar) lists all scheduled matches and provides quick access to add, edit, or delete matches.

Main Features

Each match is displayed on a separate line with the following details:

  • Game Name: The title of the match.
  • Home Team: The home team name.
  • Opponent: The opponent team name.
  • Date: The scheduled date and time of the match.
  • Status: Whether the match is complete or in progress.

Navigation Buttons:

  • Back Button: Tap Back to return to the previous screen.
  • Add Button: Tap Add to open the Match Setup Screen for a new match.

Actions

  • To add a new match, tap the Add button.
  • To edit a match, tap on the match row to open the Match Setup Screen.

Match Setup Screen Overview

The Match Setup Screen lets you create and configure a new match or update an existing one. This screen ensures all key match details are entered before tracking stats.

Fields and Prompts

Game Title:

  • Enter a descriptive title (e.g., “Dual Meet vs. Eastside”).
  • Must not exceed 100 characters.
  • Required field.

Game Date:

  • Select the date and time of the match.
  • Required field.

Game Location:

  • Typically the school or venue where the match takes place.
  • Must not exceed 100 characters.
  • Optional field.

Home Team:

  • Select the home team from the dropdown list.
  • Required field.

Opponent Team:

  • Select the opponent team from the dropdown list.
  • Optional field.

Actions

Tap the Next Game button to:

  • Save the match settings.
  • Navigate to the Match Stats Screen to begin recording match stats.

Match Lineup Screen Overview

The Match Lineup Screen allows you to assign wrestlers to specific weight classes for a dual meet. Access it by tapping the Swap button (↔️) in the sidebar of the Match Stats Screen.

Main Features

Weight Class Table:

A table showing all 14 standard weight classes (106, 113, 120, 126, 132, 138, 144, 150, 157, 165, 175, 190, 215, 285) with three columns:

  • Weight: The weight class.
  • Green Wrestler: Dropdown to select the home team wrestler for this weight class.
  • Red Wrestler: Dropdown to select the opponent team wrestler for this weight class.

Wrestler Dropdowns:

  • Each dropdown shows the available wrestlers for that team, including their photo (if uploaded), name, and weight class.
  • Dropdowns support filtering — type to search for a wrestler by name.
  • Use the clear button (X) to unassign a wrestler from a weight class.

Auto-Assignment:

  • When the lineup is first loaded, wrestlers are automatically matched to their assigned weight class based on the weight class field in their player profile.
  • You can override any assignment by selecting a different wrestler from the dropdown.

Actions

  • Save: Tap Save in the bottom menu to save the lineup. A success message appears and you’re returned to the Match Stats Screen.
  • Back: Tap Back to return without saving.

Match Stats Screen Overview

The Match Stats Screen is the core of Wrestling Trak. It’s designed to track and manage match stats in real-time for dual meet wrestling, capturing everything from individual bout scores to riding time.

Left Sidebar: Bout Table

The sidebar displays the bout lineup in a table format:

  • Weight: The weight class for each bout.
  • Home Wrestler: The green (home) wrestler’s name. Shows “Open” if no wrestler is assigned.
  • Visitor Wrestler: The red (opponent) wrestler’s name. Shows “Open” if no wrestler is assigned.
  • Status: Shows ● for the active bout and ✔ for completed bouts.

Selecting a Bout:

  • Tap a bout row to select it. The row highlights to indicate the active bout.
  • Tap a wrestler’s name cell (Green or Red) to select that specific wrestler as the active wrestler for recording actions.
  • The active bout display in the center section shows the selected bout’s weight class, wrestler names, and individual bout score.

Back Button: Tap the back arrow at the top of the sidebar to return to the Match Setup Screen. The clock and riding time are automatically saved.

Swap Button: Tap the swap icon at the bottom of the sidebar to open the Match Lineup Screen.

Center Section: Scoreboard

The scoreboard displays the current dual meet score:

  • Green (Home) Score Panel: Shows the home team’s total team points on the left in green.
  • Red (Opponent) Score Panel: Shows the opponent team’s total team points on the right in red.
  • Stall Badges: When stalls are recorded for a wrestler in the active bout, a stall count badge appears below their team’s score.

Center Section: Match Clock

  • Clock Display: Shows the current match time in MM:SS format.
  • Play/Pause/Stop Buttons: ▶ starts the clock counting down, ⏸ pauses, ⏹ stops and resets to 00:00.
  • +/− Buttons: Adjust minutes (left side) and seconds (right side) manually.

Center Section: Period Picker

  • A dropdown selector to set the current period: P1 (Period 1), P2 (Period 2), P3 (Period 3), or OT (Overtime).
  • Changing the period saves the selection to the database automatically.

Center Section: Choice Chips (Period 2+)

When Period 2 or later is selected and a bout is active, choice chips appear to record the starting position:

  • Neutral: Both wrestlers start in neutral position.
  • Top (Green): Home wrestler starts in top (referee’s) position.
  • Bottom (Green): Home wrestler starts in bottom position.
  • Top (Red): Opponent wrestler starts in top position.
  • Bottom (Red): Opponent wrestler starts in bottom position.
  • Defer: The wrestler defers their choice to the next period.

Tap a chip to select it; tap again to deselect.

Center Section: Riding Time

Two riding time toggle buttons appear below the clock:

  • Home Riding Time: Tap to start counting riding time for the home wrestler. Tap again to stop.
  • Opponent Riding Time: Tap to start counting riding time for the opponent wrestler. Tap again to stop.
  • Only one riding time timer can be active at a time — starting one automatically stops the other.
  • Riding time is displayed in M:SS format and is automatically saved to the database every 10 seconds.
  • When you switch to a different bout, riding time resets and the previous bout’s time is saved.

Center Section: Active Bout Display

When a bout is selected, a display shows:

  • The weight class and “Lb Bout” label.
  • The green wrestler’s name and individual bout score.
  • “Vs” separator.
  • The red wrestler’s name and individual bout score.

Action Grid (2 rows × 4 columns)

The action buttons are color-coded and arranged in a grid:

Row 1 — Scoring Actions:

  • TD (Takedown) — Dark Green — 2 points awarded to the active wrestler’s team. Records immediately on tap.
  • ESC (Escape) — Light Green — 1 point awarded to the active wrestler’s team. Records immediately on tap.
  • REV (Reversal) — Dark Green — 2 points awarded to the active wrestler’s team. Records immediately on tap.
  • NF (Near Fall) — Blue — Opens a popup to select 2, 3, or 4 points. Points are awarded to the active wrestler’s team.

Row 2 — Control / Match Flow:

  • PEN (Penalty) — Orange — Opens a popup with options:
    • 1pt Penalty: 1 point awarded to the opponent.
    • 2pt Penalty: 2 points awarded to the opponent.
    • Flagrant: 2 points awarded to the opponent.
    • Injury: 0 points (recorded for tracking).
    • Unsportsmanlike: 1 point awarded to the opponent.
  • STL (Stall) — Yellow — Opens a popup with options:
    • Warning: 0 points (recorded for tracking, increments stall badge).
    • 1pt Stall: 1 point awarded to the opponent.
    • 2pt Stall: 2 points awarded to the opponent.
  • END (End Match) — Red — Opens a popup to end the current bout. See “Ending a Bout” below.

Important: You must select a wrestler before tapping an action. If no wrestler is selected, an alert will remind you to select one.

Ending a Bout

When you tap END (End Match):

  1. A popup appears asking you to select the winner (Green or Red wrestler).
  2. Then choose the result type:
    • Decision — 3 team points to the winner’s team.
    • Major Decision — 4 team points to the winner’s team.
    • Tech Fall — 5 team points to the winner’s team.
    • Pin — 6 team points to the winner’s team.
    • Forfeit — 6 team points to the winner’s team.
    • Injury Default — 6 team points to the winner’s team.
    • Disqualification (DQ) — 6 team points to the winner’s team.
  3. The bout is marked as complete (✔) in the bout table.
  4. The match clock and riding time are automatically stopped.
  5. The dual meet team score in the scoreboard updates to reflect the team points awarded.

Tech Fall Alert: The app automatically displays an alert when a 15-point differential is reached during a bout, reminding you to consider ending the bout as a Tech Fall.

Play by Play Section

  • A scrollable log showing all recorded actions in reverse chronological order.
  • Each entry shows: wrestler name, action name, sub-type detail (if any), point value, and timestamp.
  • To undo an action: Tap the action in the list to select it (it highlights), then tap the ↩ (undo) button above the list. The action is removed and scores are recalculated.

Settings Screen Overview

The Settings Screen allows you to customize default preferences for your matches. These settings save time by pre-selecting frequently used options when setting up matches.

General Tab

Default Game Type:

  • Select the match type you want as the default for new matches.
  • Tap to open a dropdown list of available match types.

Default Home Team:

  • Choose the team you want to set as the default home team for new matches.
  • Tap to open a dropdown list of home teams.

Default Jersey Color:

  • Select the color to display on the match stats screen.
  • Tap to open a dropdown list of jersey colors.

Date Picker Type:

  • Choose the style of date picker used throughout the app.

Tap Save to apply your changes. Once saved, the new defaults will automatically apply to future match setups unless manually overridden.

Game Types Tab

The Game Types Tab displays all match types set up in the system.

  • List of Game Types: All existing match types are displayed in a list. Tap on any type to edit it.
  • Add Button: Tap + Add to create a new match type. Enter the name and tap Done.
  • Delete: When editing a match type, tap the 🗑️ Delete button to remove it.

Seasons Tab

The Seasons Tab lets you manage wrestling seasons.

  • List of Seasons: All existing seasons are displayed. Tap on any season to edit it.
  • Add Button: Tap + Add to create a new season.
  • Delete: When editing a season, tap Delete to remove it.

Reports Screen Overview

The Reports Screen provides a list of reports to help you analyze and track team and wrestler performance. Accessing and generating reports is simple and intuitive.

Accessing the Reports Screen

  • Tap the Reports icon in the menu bar to open the Reports Screen.

Available Reports

📋 Team List:

  • Displays a PDF list of all teams in the system.

👥 Team List with Players:

  • Includes all teams and their associated wrestlers, showing each wrestler’s name and weight class.

📊 Team Score History:

  • Shows match scores over time for selected teams.
  • Use the filter options to narrow results by date range or team.

📅 Season Report:

  • Provides a season-long summary of team performance across all matches.

🏆 Highest Scoring Players:

  • Ranks wrestlers by their total individual scoring (takedowns, escapes, reversals, near falls).
  • Use filters to view by date range or team.

🤼 Match Report (Wrestling-Specific):

  • A detailed per-match PDF report. Select a match from the dropdown and tap Generate Report.
  • The report includes:
    • Dual Meet Summary: Overall team scores, team names, and match date.
    • Bout Results Table: Weight class, wrestlers, result type (Decision/Pin/etc.), and team points for each bout.
    • Bout Stat Breakdowns: Per-bout statistics — takedowns, escapes, reversals, near falls, penalties, stalls, and riding time for both wrestlers.
    • Bout Timeline: A chronological play-by-play of all actions recorded during the match, with timestamps, wrestler names, actions, and point values.
  • The report is displayed as an interactive PDF that you can view, scroll, and print.

Subscription Tiers

Wrestling Trak offers three subscription levels:

Community (Free):

  • 1 home wrestler + 1 opponent wrestler (1-on-1 bout tracking).
  • Sample teams and wrestlers are pre-loaded.
  • Cannot add or delete teams or wrestlers.
  • Access to all reports.

All-Star:

  • Full 15-wrestler rosters per team (14 weight classes + 1 alternate).
  • Add, edit, and delete teams and wrestlers.
  • Full match lineup management.
  • All reports including Match Report.

MVP:

  • Everything in All-Star.
  • Premium features and priority support.

Localization

Wrestling Trak supports 21 languages. The app interface, action names, and labels are translated for the following languages:

  • English (default)
  • Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Swedish, Polish, Turkish
  • Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Thai, Filipino
  • Hindi, Bengali, Indonesian, Arabic, Russian

The app automatically uses your device’s language setting. Action button labels (Takedown, Escape, etc.) are displayed in the selected language.


Tips & Tricks

  • Auto-lineup: Set the Weight Class field on each wrestler’s profile to have them auto-assigned to the correct bout in the Match Lineup.
  • Quick bout switching: Tap different bout rows in the sidebar to switch between bouts without losing data.
  • Riding time precision: Riding time auto-saves every 10 seconds. It also saves when you switch bouts or leave the screen.
  • Undo mistakes: Tap any action in the Play by Play list, then tap ↩ to undo it. Scores are recalculated automatically.
  • Tech Fall awareness: The app alerts you at a 15-point differential so you can end the bout as a Tech Fall.
  • Multiple seasons: Use the Seasons tab in Settings to organize your matches by season for cleaner reporting.
